Sophie Willian is an award winning comedy writer and performer from Bolton who made her Edinburgh Festival debut at the Pleasance Courtyard in 2016 with her show On Record, which was developed with the Arts Council and The Lowry Theatre. Sophie grew up in and out of the Care System but at 23, the State handed over all of her personal records to her surprise and Sophie wrote her debut show about who she is today through the eyes of numerous social workers that assed her as a child.
Despite the fact that Sophie only started to perform stand up in 2015, she has already been in the finals for numerous competitions including the Amused Moose Laugh Off final and The Magners New Act competition, which she won. Sophie has also provided tour support for Luisa Omielan and Dane Baptiste. She has a first look deal with BBC Comedy to create, write and star in her won scripted show and is the an artist in Residence in development at The Lowry Theatre, Salford. Sophie also has a reputation as an accomplished performer in the theatre and cabaret world.
