Danny Beard – Tour, Personal, and Edinburgh Fringe Campaigns
Task
Impressive was tasked with managing the press and media campaign for Danny Beard, supporting both their personal PR, Edinburgh Fringe run, and the promotion of their UK tour, Straight Expectations. The objective was to build sustained national and regional visibility, driving ticket sales while positioning Danny as a leading voice across comedy, music, and LGBTQ+ culture.
What We Did
We delivered a comprehensive, multi-layered PR campaign spanning national, regional, and broadcast media. Our strategy combined early-stage previews to support the Straight Expectations tour on-sale, followed by a consistent flow of interviews, features, and broadcast appearances to maintain momentum throughout the campaign.
On a national level, we secured high-profile interviews, features, and broadcast appearances across key outlets including BBC Radio 5 Live, BBC Radio 4 Extra, and a guest appearance on BBC Radio 2 with Rylan Clark. We also supported and amplified Danny’s own radio show activity as part of their wider media presence. Podcast bookings such as Out with Suzi Ruffell, Harry Hill’s Noise, and Insane in the Men Brain allowed for deeper audience engagement and long-form storytelling.
In parallel, we implemented an extensive regional PR strategy to directly support the tour routing. This included widespread coverage, previews, and interviews across key cities, alongside targeted broadcast opportunities with regional BBC stations and local radio. We secured coverage across major regional titles including Manchester Evening News, Liverpool Echo, Birmingham Mail, Hull Daily Mail, Glasgow Evening Times, and Bristol 24/7, ensuring strong visibility in core markets.
Results
The campaign delivered widespread and sustained coverage, with over 100 pieces of media secured across national, regional, broadcast, and digital platforms. Early previews across outlets such as Digital Spy and Yahoo News built strong awareness for the Straight Expectations tour, while continued features and interviews maintained visibility throughout its run.
National coverage in PinkNews, The Mirror, and Attitude Magazine, combined with major radio moments including BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 5 Live, and BBC Radio 4 Extra, significantly elevated Danny’s profile. This was further strengthened by an extensive regional media footprint, ensuring strong local awareness in each tour location, alongside a robust podcast run that expanded reach across entertainment audiences.
Overall, the campaign successfully positioned Danny Beard as a major touring act and media personality, delivering strong national recognition alongside targeted regional impact to support ticket sales and audience growth for Straight Expectations, alongside their personal PR goals and Fringe publicity.
