  What do you get when you take the confidence and conviction of a nineties diva and transport it to the present day? When you mix empowering pop melodies with the warmth of a big sister; dance–floor fillers with grit and heart?

  Rising Irish artist Aimée has been busy carving out her niche in the pop arena. Not content to fall into line with the uniformity dominating the modern charts, Aimée is committed to her roots as a nineties–pop aficionado —with one eye crate–digging for the great pop sounds of the past, and the other set on the global stage.

  Growing up in Dublin on a diet of big–ballad stars and Swedish–produced–pop, Aimée only ever had one dream: to be a pop star. There was never a plan b.

  Her arrival on the scene in 2018 led to a string of top 40 hits at home in Ireland, as well as support from BBC, kiss, clash and more. Debut ep confessions shot to the number one spot in the iTunes pop album chart, not to mention the overall iTunes album chart. Songs like “don’t call me pretty” established her as an artist who wasn’t about to compromise on her feminism, while “naked” explored the full range of her vocals, finding comfort in embracing vulnerability. Single “bulletproof”, written in response to online bullies, proved that hers was a voice committed to championing causes close to her heart, and led to a battle for the top spot in the iTunes chart with billie eilish.

  Aimée is also part of the Irish women in harmony collective, whose first single “dreams” received over 5 million streams on Spotify, and made history as the first female act to hold the number one spot on the official homegrown Irish chart. Since then, she has been a champion for Irish women’s voices in an industry dominated by men. While women still fight for equality on airways, in writing rooms and on the live stage, Aimée says no more.

  Connor Mac is a 24-year-old singer-songwriter originally from Palmerston North New Zealand and is now based in Switzerland. Since his moving to Europe, he has been honing his live performance skills by regularly performing acoustic shows working in resorts and at private functions, while also writing and recording his original music that can be described as smooth pop with soulful overtones.

  “I would describe my music as smooth pop with soulful overtones. “I like to keep my lyrics honest and personal, and echo the emotion of the words in the melodies of my songs. Although I write these songs for myself, I hope that the vulnerability can be felt by anyone who is listening.”

  LAB RAT is an Australian alt-rock grunge rap artist known for his powerful lyrics and raw energy. His debut album In The Walls, We Wait arrives on May 9 via Mushroom Pillow, following the single Lost In Soho on April 11. His track Car Crash will also feature in Netflix’s upcoming series Olympo this June.

  Shaped by a journey of resilience and reinvention, LAB RAT emerged from Melbourne’s underground scene after overcoming personal struggles. Now signed to Mushroom Pillow, he’s set for his first UK shows at The Great Escape Festival from May 14-17.

  Blending intense riffs with anthemic melodies, his music turns struggle into sound, proving that even in the darkest moments, there’s always a way forward.

  Limahl has returned with his first single release in over 5 years, a reimagining of the 70’s classic ‘A Horse With No Name’ that’s out now via Christopher Music. The track, originally recorded by America, reaching No 3 in the UK charts, is Limahl’s first ever cover. Adapting the ‘70s musical aesthetics and injecting a bit of ‘90s electronica, this version of the song has a retro-futuristic quality that feels equally at home in 2025.

  “The original ‘70s track has been a favorite on my evening playlist for a long time, and I had always wanted to do my own version. The ‘90s have been enjoying a revival which prompted me to experiment with the drums/rhythms from that decade. Then the jerky, ‘Jupiter 8’ analogue synthesizer/sequencer was added with a filtering envelope and it became an important personality in the track. As an afterthought, guitar was added, and it became the icing on the cake.” LIMAHL

These are weighty, unwieldy topics – yet, they’re all par for the course when it comes to Sly Withers. The emotive alt-rock band hold nothing back in their songs, hitting home with both lyrical home truths and their signature sonic intensity. The band have continued to evolve and mature, resulting in their rise to become a powerful force in the Australian music scene. After several critically acclaimed singles on indie label Dew Process the band scored a gong at the West Australian Music Industry (WAMI) awards for Best Punk/Hardcore Act – the first of many industry accolades to follow. In a make-or-break moment, their debut album Gardens ensured that Sly Withers were well and truly made. It debuted at #10 in the ARIA album charts the week of release, ranking higher than global megastars like The Weeknd, Harry Styles and Billie Eilish. In October 2022, just over a year after the release of Gardens, the band shared its “sister album” in Overgrown. The record represents a bold evolution for the band, showcasing their growing maturity and range as songwriters. Lead single ‘Passing Through’ is a driving anthem that showcases the band’s signature sound, another top-10 debut followed for Overgrown, this time seeing them chart higher than Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran. Sly Withers have truly completed the character arc from undesirable to undeniable in their decade together. With adrenaline in their souls, a crowd in every city ready to go and their kingdom within Australian music readymade for them, it’s time for the world at large to acknowledge Sly Withers. The band release a new single on 17th April called ‘Restless’.
